Money Management Resources

Managing personal finances in this time of economic uncertainty is a top priority for many of us. There are some online resources that may help. For interactive, web-based tools, choose from the Top 18 New Money Management Sites as selected by Wall$treetFighter.com. Many of these Web 2.0 tools are free and most offer the ability not only to store information online but to share and consolidate it among those with whom you split household or business expenses.

For solid advice and for tools that are also effective, but less interactive, try the Home and Families section of the University of Illinois Extension program, or the website MyMoney.gov, provided by the U. S. Financial Literacy and Education Commission.

Abraham Lincoln in Evanston

In April, 1860, Abraham Lincoln visited Evanston and was given a reception by Evanston resident Julius White.

In 1914, the president of the Evanston Historical Society, J. Seymour Currey, wrote a 16-page account of this visit, entitled Abraham Lincoln's Visit to Evanston in 1860.

In honor of the 200th anniversary of President Lincoln's birth, we have digitized this publication. It is available as part of Evanston's Local History Collection through Digital Past.

Digital Past is a local history digitization initiative undertaken by libraries, historical societies, museums, and other cultural venues throughout Illinois in partnership with the North Suburban Library System (NSLS) in Wheeling, Illinois.
