Preaker, a journalist for a second rate Chicago newspaper, returns to her Missouri hometown, a town of gossip, secrets, and lies, to investigate the murders of two pre-teen girls which may be the work of a serial killer. But Camille has her own secrets. A heavy drinker and cutter, Camille must deal with her own demons in order to help the girls of her town.
