A minimum of 8 children is required for storytimes and programs to be held. Children must be residents of Evanston or attend school in District 65.  Book Babies and Time for Twos is limited to 12 children with a parent or caregiver. Time for Twos is meant to be a special time for a parent and child, so no older or younger siblings. Registration required unless otherwise noted.

Design for America: Free Thinking Design Workshop

Come learn about design-thinking and creative problem solving while working to after school engagement for Evanston youth in this free workshop facilitated by Design for America. Design-thinking is about understanding the needs of people and generating an array of potential solutions to be tested. This workshop will introduce empathy and brainstorming techniques to address local and social challenges. Design for America, founded at Northwestern University, is an award-winning nationwide network of interdisciplinary student teams and community members using design to create local and social impact.  Please register. Recommended for kids 8 and up, teens and adults. 


DIY for Kids: Artbots

Monday, August 4, 2-3pm, Main Library, Grades K-2 and parents/guardians

Create your very own robot that draws at this hands on event. Learn how you take an electric toothbrush and a pool noodle to make a robot all your own! Please register. ** For the K-2 program parents/guardians must register and attend with their children.Register for the Chicago Ave Main Street Branch grades 3-5 program or the Childrens Room program at the Main Library for K-2. 


Time for Twos

Storytime featuring songs, picture books, puppets and  rhymes for 24 to 36 months old with parent, grandparent or caregiver.  Register online for Thursdays, or register online for Fridays.


Jugando con la ciencia/Playing with science

Come and learn about the various fields of science in this bilingual, hands-on program for kids and families.  Vengan a descubrir los diversos campos de la ciencia con  actividades de práctica en este programa bilingüe para niños y familias.Este sábado 19 de julio estaremos en el Festival de Artes Étnicas en el Parque Centennial de 12 pm a 2 pm. The session for July 19 will take place at our booth at the Ethnic Arts Festival at Centennial Park from 12-2 pm.


Drop-In Preschool Storytime at Main

Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m., Children's Room, Main Library

For children ages 3-5 years old and parent or caregiver.

Drop-in; no registration required.
