- The Academy of American Poets National Poetry Month Site
- Inaugurated by the Academy in April 1996, National Poetry Month (NPM) brings together publishers, booksellers, literary organizations, libraries, schools, and poets around the country to celebrate poetry and its vital place in American culture. Provides links to find a particular poet’s work, other poetry sites, and a calendar of poetry events throughout the country.
- The American Verse Project
- A collaboration between the University of Michigan Humanities Text Initiative (HTI) and the University of Michigan Press, assembling an electronic archive of American poetry prior to 1920.
- Daily Poetry

Each day brings you a new poem from books, magazines and journals currently in print. The daily poem is selected for its topical or seasonal interest, as well as for its literary quality. Included with each poem are information about the poet and attribution of the poem's source.
Highland Park Poetry
- Poetry 180: A Poem a Day for American High Schools
- Developed by former Poet Laureate Billy Collins, the site offers a poem for each day of the approximately 180-day school year.
- Representative Poetry Online
- Great site for poetry lovers! Search for a poem by title, autor or using keywords, or read the best known poems by over 500 famous poets.
- Modern American Poetry
- Biography critcism, interviews and ongoing discussions about and by contemporary American poets.
- Poets’ Corner
- This is one of the largest websites containing poetry, both obscure and well known. Poems are indexed by subject, title and author, and there are links to biographies of the poets.
- Poetry Slam, Inc.
- Poetry Slam, Inc. is a non-profit organization charged with overseeing the international coalition of poetry slams, the competitive art of performance poetry. This site answers all types of questions about poetry slams, from what they are, to how to enter the national slam contest.
A good resource for poets in the North Shore area; seeks to increase awareness of poetry in the community through readings, writing workshops, and public displays.

- The largest organization in the country dedicated to the art of poetry, The Academy of American Poets supports American poets at all stages of their careers and fosters the appreciation of contemporary poetry.
- Alien Flower
- An interactive medium where poets share idea about poetry and its place in society.
- Electronic Poetry Center
- The electronic version of concrete poetry, delivered in a variety of mediums, poetry. At the cutting edge of what language does.
- Illinois State Poetry Society
- Non-profit dedicated to the furtherance of poetry and uniting poets in the bonds of fellowship and understanding. Holds poetry contests, has biographies of Illinois poets.
- Poets & Writers
- Online version of Poets & Writers Magazine online, includes interviews with noted poets, and "six top questions that writers ask."
- Rhyming Dictionary
- Just the place to find that rhyme. Can also find synonyms and antonyms, word meanings, etc.
- Teen Ink
- Teen Ink is a monthly print magazine, website, and a book series. This website publishes poetry, all written by teens for teens, ages 13-19.
