The Woman in Black

the woman in black poster 7 The Woman in Black. 2012 (DVD 791.4372 Woman)

I wanted to support Harry Potter.  I figured I'd give him a chance in a different role...and really, he wasn't bad.  Period pieces become Daniel Radcliffe because (even in the case of Harry) he seems like he is from a different time.  He was believable as an early twentieth century lawyer, though not as much as a widowed father.  He is set to investigate a haunted house in the countryside where the only road leading to or from disappears with the tide.  I was initially scared to turn it on, knowing that the scariest part of scary movies are when something pops out at you from nowhere and that is mainly what the previews showed.  It was slow and not scary at all.  There was a convoluted plot about a ghost son and his real mother, that even when the spirits were reunited, her vengeance was not slaked.  It is Gothic and the scenery is beautiful, but even the boy wizard cannot save this film.  (Kim - Reader's Services)
