EPL Stands in Solidarity with our Asian, Asian American and Pacific Islander Community

Art by Amanda Phingbodhipakkiya

The Evanston Public Library stands in solidarity with the Asian, Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community.  We grieve for the 8 victims, 6 of whom were Asian American, of this week’s hateful murders and for the thousands of AAPI who experience discrimination and violence in all of its forms daily in the United States and across the world. As EPL continues its work in pursuing racial equity, dismantling white supremacy and misogyny, we invite you to join us in seeking to support historically marginalized communities, and in moving towards a future in which the injustices they have endured can be redressed. To read more about the extent of  discrimination and harm that the AAPI communities have been experiencing, we invite you to read this recent report from the Asian American Pacific Islander Council.
