Author Event: “H.H. Holmes: The True History of the White City Devil”

author eventTuesday, September 19, 7 pm, Community Meeting Room, Main Library

Come meet Chicago author Adam Selzer as he shares his fascinating new book H.H. Holmes: The True History of the White City Devil. Described as “the first truly comprehensive book” about the 1893 World’s Fair supervillain, Selzer’s exhaustively-researched biography draws on hundreds of previously unexamined letters, newspaper articles, and legal documents in order to separate the actual story from Holmes’ notorious legend. Praised by Booklist as “a must-read for fans of The Devil in the White City,” H.H. Holmes will be an invaluable companion to Martin Scorsese’s upcoming film about Holmes’ crimes. Selzer will take questions following his reading, and copies of H.H. Holmes will be available to purchase.

Adam Selzer is the host of the Mysterious Chicago blog, podcasts, and tours. He regularly writes about Chicago history for TimeOut and Atlas Obscura and speaks about it on WGN radio. He lives in Chicago.
