Chechnya late 2004, 8-year-old Havaa hides in the woods while her house burns and the Russians take her father away. Akhmed, a neighbor, takes her home, and together they seek shelter in a bombed out hospital with Sonja, its lone doctor. During the following five days Anthony Marra introduces us to these characters and others through flashbacks revealing their acts of kindness and betrayal in A Constellation of Vital Phenomena. The North Branch Book Group meets on the last Thursday of most months. Copies of the book will be available for checkout at North Branch for those who will be attending the discussion.Register
