North Branch Book Group: The Other Wes Moore

Thursday, February 23, 7 pm, Evanston Arts Center

Join this shared reading experience to dicuss poverty, inequality, and possibility as we examine the Evanston Reads book selection – The Other Wes Moore: One Name, Two Fates by Wes Moore. We will meet at the Evanston Art Center, 1717 Central Street on the second floor. Copies of the book are available at all library locations. Come early to view Through Darkness to Light: Photographs Along the Underground Railroad.
In partnership with the Evanston History Center, the Art Center will present photographs by Jeanine Michna-Bales, who has spent more than a decade meticulously researching ‘fugitive’ slaves and the ways they escaped to freedom. These dramatic photographs will piece together a narrative of the Underground Railroad, and the escape of an estimated 100,000 slaves between 1830 and the end of the Civil War in 1865.
