EPL Wins Video Contest; Evanston Kids Reap the Rewards

Evanston Public Library created the winning video in AWE's 2013 Video Contest for Public Libraries, but it's our youngest library users who will most enjoy the prize: the Early Literacy Station, an all-in-one computer system loaded with fun, educational and interactive content designed for children ages 2-8. EPL was announced  the winner during this summer's American Library Association Annual Conference.

The funny and engaging video was created by EPL Children's Librarians Laura Antolin and Kim Kaufmann who saw a good opportunity to add another popular digital learning station to the Library's Early Childhood resources. The video features children lining up outside the library awaiting the new Literacy Station as if waiting for a rock star to arrive.

This will be the fourth such Early Literacy Station at EPL. There are currently two at the Main Library and one at the Chicago Ave./Main St. (CAMS) branch.

According to Jan Bojda, Head of Children's Services, "the stations are very popular with parents and children alike. The parents enjoy the fact that the digital stations offer fun and engaging educational content like reading, science, writing, math, and research, all in a completely safe environment. Older kids use them as well."
