Kids' Events

A minimum of 8 children is required for storytimes and programs to be held. Children must be residents of Evanston or attend school in District 65.  Book Babies and Time for Twos is limited to 12 children with a parent or caregiver. Time for Twos is meant to be a special time for a parent and child, so no older or younger siblings. Registration required unless otherwise noted.

Free Comic Book Day!!!!

In partnership with Comix Revolution we're celebrating all the awesome graphic novels and comics by giving away free comic books all day at all three of our locations! There will be tons to choose from like superhero comics, the classic Archie or a short story from the new series Junior Braves of Apocalypse! Stop at the Children's Desk, the Loft, North Branch or the Chicago Ave Main Street Branch to get your free comic! All ages.

 

Parent/Child Workshop

Children ages 1 to 3 and their parents/caregivers engage in creative play and mingle with each other & with special guests from various fields.  The program ends with a fun, interactive circle time led by Mr. Brian and crafts with Ms. Robin! 

   

May Weekend Family Film: The Black Cauldron

Whoever releases the mysterious Black Cauldron's powers will be invincible! The fearsome Horned King will do anything to possess it, but he is challenged by the most unlikely adversary: a young assistant pig keeper named Taran. With a motley team of the brave Princess Eilonwy, a minstrel named Fflewddur Fflam, and Hen-Wen, a remarkable pig who can predict the future, Taran embarks on a quest to stop the Black Cauldron's evil once and for all.  80 minutes, rated PG.

   

Lights! Camera! Action! Stop Motion Animation

Lights...Camera... Action! Join staff from Steve & Kate's Camp at the library for an adventure in stop motion animation. Children will create characters, design sets, and film stop - motion masterpieces on custom-built, tabletop iPad stations. All materials are provided -- just bring your imagination!

   

Purple Crayon Players Storytime at EPL!

Fridays, May 13,  & May 27,  4 pm, Garden Gates & Art Garden, Main Library

Bring the kids to this fun storytime & craft run by Northwestern University's Purple Crayon Players geared to children age 3 - 8, but everyone is welcome. The Players read stories, teach games and lead crafts.  No registration required; just drop in.  End the week with college kids, a story, and a craft!
