Lending, Not Vending: New Book Lending Machine at Robert Crown

library lending machineAt first, it looks like a machine where you could buy candy or chips. But a closer look shows an array of the latest books and DVDs suitable for all ages. It’s a book lending machine, and you can find it in the vestibule at Robert Crown Community Center.

The new Evanston Public Library book lending machine, which will be operational beginning the week of July 17, holds more than 400 books and DVDs. Until further notice, only those with Evanston Public Library cards are eligible to borrow the materials. Books will be checked out for two weeks, DVDs one week. None are renewable.

According to Library Director Karen Danczak Lyons, the lending machine is a promise of things to come at Robert Crown. She says, “This is another step in our process as we encourage our families to expect library services at the Robert Crown location. We look forward to welcoming our families to Evanston’s Robert Crown Branch Library in a few years. “

The EPL book lending machine will be available any time Robert Crown is open. Materials can be returned at the book drop at Robert Crown or any of the library’s locations.
