Join us for a variety of art workshops throughout the year for 55+! All materials will be provided. No cost.

August: Sketching Scenery

Drawing is a way of exploring and connecting with the world. In this class, we will learn how to draw both natural and architectural forms. Media include: graphite, pen &ink. All supplies included.

September: Rethinking Tie Dye

Come explore Ice Dyeing and Reverse Tie Dye in this interactive, fiber-arts workshop. We’ll create folds in the fiber and apply a bleach mixture to create beautiful patterns by making the original color disappear! All materials will be provided. This program is in partnership with The Mather Initiative. Instructor: Ruthe Guerry.

October: Pop Up Card Making

Halloween is coming. Make three spooktacular pop up cards with Shawn Sheehy. Shawn has been teaching book arts courses and workshops since 2001. He holds an MFA in the Book Arts from Columbia College Chicago. Visit him at shawnsheehy.com.

November: Eco Printing & Journal Making

Join us in focusing on the season of gratitude and the beauty of natural materials as we pursue wellness through our creativity. Create nature prints using bark, leaves, flowers, nuts, herbs, veggies and other supplies we find around us.  After making your own one-of-a-kind paper and learning some simple book binding techniques, each participant will build their own gratitude journal to record their thoughts.
