Cardless Teacher Checkout
Teachers from Evanston schools can check out library materials for their classrooms on a permanent account dedicated to their school. Let us select books, DVDs or STEAM Kits for you, or stop by the Main Library to make your selections. Teacher Checkouts are accepted through Friday, April 28, 2017; all items must be returned by Friday, May 12, 2017.
Teacher Checkout Rules:
*One checkout at a time of up to 15 items, including books or audiovisual materials related to the requested subject, is allowed. Exceptions may include seasonal topics (ex. apples, fall) or topics several classes are researching simultaneously.
*High demand topics are limited to 5 books and one DVD. Holiday materials are not available for teacher checkout.
*All items from a checkout must be returned before another teacher checkout is initiated.
*New requests/additions to the original request cannot be processed until all items from previous Teacher Checkout are checked in.
*Your school is responsible for any lost or damaged materials. Schools will be notified about overdue materials and billed if they are not returned by the end of the school year.
*Lending period is four weeks (two weeks for STEAM Kits). Returns are accepted to the Circulation Desk at the Main Library on or before the due date. The due date may be extended when possible, with advance notice.

STEAM-To-Go Teacher Kits (Science Technology Engineering Arts & Math)
Enhance your curriculum with one of our STEAM Teacher Kits. Each kit comes with a classroom set of equipment, supportive books and a binder of curriculum ideas and additional resources. Kits available are: Little Bits, Makey Makey, Lego WeDo, K’NEX Simple Machines, and Snap Circuits. Kits made possible through a generous Foundation 65 grant.

- Checkout for two weeks, no renewals
- Kits can be reserved in advance (Limit 2 pending reservations)
- Kits can be picked up at the Children’s Desk at the Main Library and returned to the Circulation Desk at the Main Library

Bring a small group, class or whole grade to tour the Main Children’s Room or either of our two branches. Tours can include a craft, storytime, booktalks, and/or an introduction to the library website or catalog. Let us customize to meet your needs. All District 65 Kindergarten classes visit the Main Library with funding provided by Foundation 65.
Call us to arrange for booktalks on Rebecca Caudill, Bluestem or Monarch Award nominees. Get your students excited about these Illinois book awards where their votes count!
