Revel in Your Inner Nerd

November 30, 2011

Reading Word Nerd by Barbara Ann Kipfer may compel you to define your level of nerdiness. Did you know there was a word to describe the sound of Rice Krispies making the “snap, crackle, pop” noise? Crepitation, of course! How about a different way of saying used? Try preloved! And one of the most unique words in this odd collection is marplot– a person who spoils the plot! A good word for librarians and readers to know.

EPL has an assortment of nerd themed books. I noticed Nerds and American Nerd, not to mention a variety of children and YA books.

To top it all off, you may want to join the Chicago Nerd Social Club. I kid you not. They do offer science fiction book discussions, but they host social events, as well. Their logo features a black plastic glasses motif.

Go ahead, snuggle up with a nerdy dictionary while listening to your cereal’s crepitation,  and let your inner nerd rejoice!
