Here’s a great example of synchronicity (related information or events with no planned connection that occur together or in close sequence).
Last Thursday Sarah Deisenroth, the manager of the Barnes & Noble store in downtown Evanston, met with a few of us in the staff training room for a demo of the new Nook e-reader offered exclusively at B&N. One important plus with this device for Evanston library users is the capabililty to “side load” content from ebook sources such as MyMediaMall. As far as I know the only other one to do this is the Sony Reader. The Kindle does not.
Last Saturday, just two days after the demo, the Trib ran a feature article in the Printers Row Books section comparing six e-readers on the market now. Oddly enough, the comparison data did not include the side load feature [shrug]. And, even though the web version provides visuals, the ones here show relative size and somewhat better close-ups: B&N Nook, Apple iPad, Amazon Kindle, Kindle DX, Sony Reader Daily Edition, Sony Reader Touch, and Sony Reader Pocket.
