A number of worthwhile book festivals just occurred and I didn’t hear anything about them until they were history. Where was everyone, or where was the media coverage for these events? The National Book Festival in Wash., DC, is the most significant. They usually feature a wide assortment of authors, book signings, creative events, and activities for children. The home page stars a message from Clint Eastwood. Next, I noticed a festival in the Baltimore area, appropriately titled The Baltimore Book Festival. Lastly, Vermont hosted a festival, The Burlington Book Festival. Each seemed enthusiastically attended and offered plenty of established authors, current topics, and celebrity appearances. (Given my druthers I would rather hear more news about events like these than the latest Kardashian romance or if Sarah Palin is going to run.) Shira S.
