César Chávez Commemorative Day of Service – March 31

March 27, 2012

Omega Delta Phi Fraternity, Inc. Alpha Alpha Chapter will lead a fun-filled day for kids, families, and teens from Noon-4pm at the Evanston Public Library at 1703 Orrington (Main) in the first floor Community Meeting Room. Activities include storybook bingo, planting seeds, and composting with worms followed by a theatre presentation and workshop.  César Chávez was an American farm worker, labor leader, and civil rights activist who, with Dolores Huerta, co-founded the National Farm Workers Association, which later became the United Farm Workers (UFW). Many continue to show their public support for César Chávez and the UFW, such as Stephen Colbert during a hearing of the Subcommittee on Immigration, Citizenship and Border Security.
