The Evanston Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) is a volunteer group of both medical and non-medical professionals who have an interest in serving in public health emergencies and in health-related events year-round.  All volunteers are trained in public health preparedness, but we also train on other important topics, such as health education initiatives, communicable disease investigations, and violence in the community.

We aim to get our volunteers out and into the community, helping to improve the health and well-being of residents.  For instance, MRC participants assisted in vaccination administration during the H1N1 Influenza outbreak of 2009-2010.  During this pandemic, the Health & Human Services Department administered over 12,000 vaccinations and held clinics at all the schools in Evanston including primary and middle schools, Evanston Township High School, and Northwestern University.  Since then, the Evanston MRC has assisted in multiple emergency dispensing drills and exercises, an emergency hepatitis A vaccination clinic, and at health and wellness events.

We're always looking for new volunteers!  If you would like to get involved or want to know more information, please contact us at or 847-448-8180.
