Harm Reduction is an alternative to traditional all or nothing approaches to “addiction” treatment. Harm Reduction is based on humane, rational, and evidence based models of therapy. It does recognize that we and our sources of unhappiness are complex and involve work, home, significant relationships, emotional experiences including trauma, and our means of coping on a daily basis.
We are here to help reduce the negative impact of drugs, alcohol, gambling, self injury, and the like on individuals, their families and communities.

The Evanston Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) is a volunteer group of both medical and non-medical professionals who have an interest in serving in public health emergencies and in health-related events year-round. All volunteers are trained in public health preparedness, but we also train on other important topics, such as health education initiatives, communicable disease investigations, and violence in the community.
We aim to get our volunteers out and into the community, helping to improve the health and well-being of residents. For instance, MRC participants assisted in vaccination administration during the H1N1 Influenza outbreak of 2009-2010. During this pandemic, the Health & Human Services Department administered over 12,000 vaccinations and held clinics at all the schools in Evanston including primary and middle schools, Evanston Township High School, and Northwestern University. Since then, the Evanston MRC has assisted in multiple emergency dispensing drills and exercises, an emergency hepatitis A vaccination clinic, and at health and wellness events.
We're always looking for new volunteers! If you would like to get involved or want to know more information, please contact us at EvanstonMRC@cityofevanston.org or 847-448-8180.

Rotary is made up of three parts: at the heart of Rotary are our clubs, that are supported by Rotary International and The Rotary Foundation.
Rotary clubs bring together dedicated individuals to exchange ideas, build relationships, and take action.
Rotary International supports Rotary clubs worldwide by coordinating global programs, campaigns, and initiatives.
The Rotary Foundation uses generous donations to fund projects by Rotarians and our partners in communities around the world. As a nonprofit, all of the Foundation's funding comes from voluntary contributions made by Rotarians and friends who share our vision of a better world.
Together, Rotary clubs, Rotary International, and The Rotary Foundation work to make lasting improvements in our communities and around the world.
Our 1.2 million-member organization started with the vision of one man—Paul P. Harris. The Chicago attorney formed one of the world’s first service organizations, the Rotary Club of Chicago, on 23 February 1905 as a place where professionals with diverse backgrounds could exchange ideas and form meaningful, lifelong friendships. Rotary’s name came from the group’s early practice of rotating meetings among the offices of each member.

We have identified specific causes to target to maximize our local and global impact. At the same time, we understand that each community has its own unique needs and concerns. Through our network of resources and partners, we help clubs focus their service efforts in promoting peace, fighting disease, providing clean water, saving mothers and children, supporting education, and growing local economies.
