The Evanston Parks/Recreation and Community Services Dept. oversees a wide range of services: Cultural Arts, Ecology, Forestry, Parks, Recreation, Youth Engagement, Senior Services and Disability Services. The divisions offer a variety of programs for children, teens, adults, seniors, and people with special needs.
Cultural Arts Division: Promotes the arts in Evanston and provides information about the arts and arts events. Presents free events including Evanston Lakeshore Arts Festival, Ethnic Arts festival, Starlight concerts, and Arts Week.

A progressive series of arts enrichment classes for children ages 6 months to 13 years. Classes for younger children include songs, dance, language activities, finger plays, large and small motor skill exercises, rhythm activities, puppetry, pantomime and group games. For 5-13 year olds, classes include dance, cooking, Chinese, and ballroom dance.
Summer programs offer a variety of arts and cooking themes with several attendance choices.

The Evanston Art Center (EAC) offers over 100 art classes multiple times per year for children and adults. Classes include: ceramics, drawing and painting, digital media and 3D printing, fiber, jewelry, metal sculpture, photography, printmaking, sculpture, and woodworking. The Art Center’s arts education programs provide art classes and summer camps to individuals 3 to 95 years old. EAC hosts numerous art exhibitions and programs each year in its gallery spaces, which are free and open to the public. EAC provides outreach programs to children in District 65 schools, seniors, and adults with mental and physical disabilities.
Hands-on, student-directed activities for children ages 6 to 15. Camps are offered during the summer and school holiday breaks. Most are held at the Noyes Cultural Arts Center.

A community recreation facility with programs for adults and children, including a fitness center, dance studio, regulation gymnasium, and auditorium space. Provides extensive after-school and summer programs for children, School Day Off programs and Senior Lunch, served every Wednesday.
Gather is a drop-in art and playspace in downtown Evanston for parents and children through age 8. Hours for open play are Monday through Friday 9am – 3pm, Sat and Sun 9am – 12pm. In addition, we have registered music and language classes during and after open play hours – Classes and events. Parents with pre-walkers can relax in a private room with comfy couches, soft toys, books and puzzles and complimentary coffee, tea and water. Monthly guest artist exhibits featuring the work of Illinois artists. Pricing. Available for private events.
Inexpensive, non-degree classes and workshops for the general public in arts and crafts, social dance, music, photography, foreign language, yoga, massage, wines and beers, and other topics. Open to teens and adults. Classes offered four times a year, beginning in October, January, April, and July.

Located near the Noyes Street “El” station, the Center houses an art gallery which features exhibits by local artists, theatre space available for use by amateur and professional companies and 28 studios leased to professional arts organizations and local artists. The Center also offers art classes in all artistic disciplines and the Evanston Arts Camp for students is located here.
The Noyes Cultural Arts Center, owned by the City of Evanston, is a lively home to over 20 artists and arts organizations offering music, theater, and visual arts programs and studios.
There is a full stage at the Noyes Cultural Arts Center that seats 190 people and two galleries. The galleries exhibit local artists, with exhibitions changing every two months. The building is home to many arts organizations and artists.

A non-profit arts and social service organization offering workshops, classes, exhibitions, and community outreach activities as means of bringing the creative process to individuals of all ages and backgrounds to inspire personal growth, interpersonal understanding, and social change. Art and Action free year-round after school and summer programs for 8-18 year-old at-risk youths, Art and Wellness a program for adults working towards maintaining mental health and personal growth and Art and Envisioning program which offers the OSP process as a tool for business, leadership, and decision-making.
Gallery 901 Exhibits of community artists and groups which celebrate the affirmative impact of the creative process, and which encourage positive social change.

Pottery classes for adults, and for children age 6 and up.
Gallery features handmade functional and decorative pottery, hand carved wooden boxes and blown glass, and hand-painted ceramics from Italy, jewelry, candles, frames, and other gift items.

This award winning facility houses a DCFS licensed preschool program, private music lessons, children’s theatre, dance classes, enrichment programs, culinary arts, visual arts classes, performing arts camps and is home to the Skokie Art Guild and Devonshire Community Playhouse.
Local fabric store offers sewing classes for adults and children (ages 9-14), beginners through advanced. Workshops on tailoring and fitting, bridal sewing, silk painting, design and home decorating, sewing machine lessons and repairs.
