Mudlark Theater is a not-for-profit organization where
children are taken seriously as artists, and learn theater by making it. As a rule, the general public expects little of children’s theater. Mudlark’s goal is to raise that expectation and keep it there. By holding children to a higher standard and empowering them to make strong artistic choices, Mudlark creates the possibility for great theater—vibrant, funny, compelling shows that erase the boundary between youth and professional theater.

Muse of Fire is a professional theatre company dedicated to bringing great plays to the widest possible local audience.

We choose plays that are classics — plays that ask important questions and encourage audiences to come up with their own answers; plays with characters as complicated and flawed as we all are; plays that love language and provide our company the opportunity to create the kind of intimacy between performers and audience that is the hallmark of our approach to theatre.

We believe that no one in the community should be excluded from such an experience, and we strive to make each play we present understandable and engaging for everyone who comes to see it. We also make our plays broadly inviting by performing in found spaces, rather than stately theatre venues that might intimidate newcomers. We play without microphones or other distancing technology. And all our performances are free.

Public Notes

Irish dance involves executing intricate footwork, fascinating rhythms, and proper dance form to lively music but to Tully Academy it is much more. Founded in Chicago more than 50 years ago by Sheila Tully Driscoll, the Sheila Tully Academy of Irish Dance is highly regarded in the Irish Dance community. It is the goal of Tully Academy to build not only a strong body but a strong character in every student. Tully Academy strives to build the dancer’s’ self esteem and confidence, encouraging them to succeed where they are challenged, and build on their successes. Tully Academy teaches both the performance and the competitive aspect of Irish dancing including learning good sportsmanship, showmanship, and teamwork. Through this, irish dancing gives dancers a sense of pride and confidence as they reach their individual goals. In class we strive to help every dancer find ways to perform at is or her own comfort level whether that be in the classroom, at performances or in competition.

Sheila’s programs have produced many champion dancers as well as receiving many local, national and international awards for her soloists and teams. Her school has also received recognition for her strong teaching style and is often sought out for its highly entertaining show performances. While Tully Academy’s two main ‘state of the art’ studios are located in Glenview, Illinois, classes are also held at satellite locations throughout the Chicago suburbs. Boys and girls, ages 4 and older are welcome to join at any of our class locations to learn the tradition of Irish Dance.

Tibetan Alliance of Chicago (“TAC”) is a registered 501 3(c) not-for-profit organization seeking to preserve Tibetan heritage and serving the needs of the Tibetan community in Chicago.

TAC was established in March 1992, initially as Tibetan Resettlement Project of Chicago, to resettle 100 Tibetans in Chicago who came from various parts of India and Nepal. For background, the invasion of Tibet by the People’s Republic of China beginning in 1949 displaced nearly 100,000 Tibetans who followed His Holiness the Dalai Lama into exile in 1959, predominantly settling in India and Nepal. The passing of the Immigration Act of 1990 resulted in the US government issuing 1,000 visas to Tibetans in exile to resettle in various US cities and towns. Tibetan Resettlement Project of Chicago resettled 100 Tibetans between 1992-1993 and currently, we have about 300 Tibetans residing in Chicago. TAC remains indebted to the original founders and supporters of the Tibetan Resettlement Project of Chicago.

Our main objective now is to:

  1.  To continue to strengthen the Chicago Tibetan Community internally and externally and promote His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s message of interdependence, global peace and compassion within the broader Chicago community
  2. To revive, preserve and promote Tibet’s unique religious and cultural heritage and educate the younger generation of Tibetan-Americans and the broader Chicago community about Tibetan history, religion, and culture
  3. To liaise with Office of Tibet and other North American Tibetan organizations as well as work closely with other communities in Chicago and develop mutually beneficial relationships

We are Chicago’s pre-eminent, most adventurous choral organization, dedicated to helping kids grades PreK-12 find their voice and make a difference in our world. We know that our world is really big. And the people who share it speak hundreds of languages and sing thousands of songs. By singing each other’s songs, we learn that, although we are different, we are all truly beautiful. And if we, the children of the world, learn to value all other children as beautiful people, we make our world a better place. This is what we believe. This is why we sing.
