AS YOU LIKE IT was created 1979 as an alternative store front art gallery for local artists, into which was incorporated a one-chair hair salon. Our space has grown and evolved, as has our commitment to local art. Since we began, we’ve featured continuous, large exhibits of a variety of styles and media, including: works on paper, painting, collage, quilts, photography, stained glass, wearable art, jewelry, prints and mixed-media.
The Mary and Leigh Block Museum of Art is a dynamic, imaginative, and innovative teaching and learning resource for Northwestern University and its surrounding communities, featuring a global exhibition program that crosses time periods and cultures and serves as a springboard for thought-provoking discussions. The Block mounts exhibitions; commissions new work; organizes lectures, symposia, and workshops; and screens classic and contemporary films at its in-house cinema. With over 5,000 artworks, the permanent collection of the Block Museum boasts rich and diverse holdings of prints, drawings, and photography and continues to expand its holdings of works in every medium that that support the museum’s global and interdisciplinary mission.

Dittmar Memorial Gallery, established at Norris University Center in 1972, is a student-operated gallery whose goal is to expose, enlighten and challenge the Northwestern University community with the emerging and underrepresented artists from the Chicago area and the Midwest. It seeks to provide well-deserved exposure to those outside or on the margins of the mainstream art world.

Evanston Made produces art events throughout the year. Most of these events are open to the public but we also host members only events.
Gather is a drop-in art and playspace in downtown Evanston for parents and children through age 8. Hours for open play are Monday through Friday 9am - 3pm, Sat and Sun 9am - 12pm. In addition, we have registered music and language classes during and after open play hours - Classes and events. Parents with pre-walkers can relax in a private room with comfy couches, soft toys, books and puzzles and complimentary coffee, tea and water. The Gillock Gallery advocates for young artists by showcasing and promoting their developing work, traditional representational painting to mixed media works and photography.
Great Lakes Art Studio is a Midwest leader in fabrication, fine art casting, restoration, and innovative design. This company offers a full range of services: fabrication, casting, and restoration of stair railings, furniture, antiques, architectural elements and sculpture. They are equipped to handle a simple repair as well as a site-specific public sculpture.
Visitors are welcome at their studio.
Gallery offers a variety of original work, ranging from sculpture and stained glass to photography and oil painting. Also sells archival quality historic posters, handmade clocks, and mosaic tables. The majority of the items are created by Chicago and Evanston-based artists.
