Counseling Services for people whose lives are touched by epilepsy. ESNI staff has found a significant improvement in attitudes and patterns of adjustment when these difficult and painful feelings are expressed and death with by a professional counselor attuned to the unique characteristics of epilepsy. Support groups interrupt the sense of isolation and alienation commonly experiences among the seizure-disordered and their families, as well as providing accurate and reliable information about epilepsy. These groups are dedicated by a staff counselor. The components of the counseling program offer an opportunity for clients to deal with the personal meanings and adjustment to epilepsy. ESNI’s newsletter, EPILIFE, is our most effective communication tool. Community Education Programs are held throughout the year. The programs are held in hospitals and are publicized va EPILIFE, media releases and mailing and distribution of flyers.

Fitzsimmons Home Medical Equipment provides a number of adaptive and support devices such as beds, wheelchairs, walkers, canes, and support stockings. Also available: durable medical equipment such as portable oxygen, and CPAP’s and BiPAP’s, including all accessories. Customers are seen by a licensed and certified respiratory therapist.

Hours of Service: Monday-Friday: 8:30 am-5:30 pm, Saturday: 9:00 am-5:00 pm.  24 hour emergency service and after hours set-ups are available 7 days a week.
Eligibility Criteria: Medicare guidelines, Blue Cross/Blue Shield HMO

Eligibility Criteria: Hospice is available for people with any life-limiting illness or condition—a person who has an illness or condition that is no longer responding to medical treatment, or a person whose physical conditions are unlikely to benefit from available medical care and continued treatment will prolong suffering or lower quality of life.
Fee Policy: Hospice coverage is available through Medicare Part A (hospital insurance), the Medicaid system of Illinois, and most insurance policies. Commercial insurance for hospice coverage does vary, so families should of course check with the patient’s employer or insurance provider. For patients and families in need, JourneyCare provides care regardless of ability to pay.

MD at Home gives our patients the attention and personal services you come to expect from a primary care physician. It is our purpose to provide quality comprehensive and cost-effective physician services to the homebound patient in the comfort and safety of their own home.

Supplemental Security Income (SSI) is a Federal income supplement program funded by general tax revenues (not Social Security taxes). It is designed to help aged, blind, and disabled people who have little or no income; and it provides cash to meet basic needs such as food, clothing, and shelter.

Eligibility Criteria: Take the online Benefit Eligibility Screening Tool linked at www.ssa.gov to see if you are eligible for SSI. Low income adults over 65 are eligible even if not disabled. Disabled adults with substantial work experience are eligible for Social Security Disability (SSD).
