North Shore Senior Center (NSSC) is a nationally accredited 501(c)(3) organization that
serves older adults from the most independent to those needing more support. NSSC
engages more than 24,000 individuals each year throughout Chicago’s northern
suburbs. NSSC offers a comprehensive suite of services to enable older adults to live
safely and independently including: specialized care for people living with dementia;
caregiver resources; support groups; counseling; money management; educational and
wellness programs; volunteer opportunities; and a wide array of social services such as
benefits counseling, adult protective services, general case management, home-
delivered meals, housekeeping services, and more. NSSC has offices in Northfield,
Glenview, Niles, and Evanston.
Our social workers serve older adults in Evanston and we hold our Grandparents Raising
Grandchildren meetings at Fleetwood-Jourdain Center (1655 Foster St., Evanston) on the second Tuesday of the month

Hospice provides support and guidance for patients and the families coping with loss and the end of life. Hospice care can be provided in the patients home, the home of a loved one, an assisted living community, a long-term care facility or a hospital. The hospice team includes a physician, nurse, social worker, home health aide, chaplain, volunteer and bereavement counselor. The hospice team visit and assist the patient and family on a regular basis, as determined by individual needs.
