Digital Public Library of America launching April 18, 2013

April 11, 2013

DPLA040313Last year I posted about this new project which sounds very exciting in terms of the vast amount of information it should make available to everyone. Well, it is about to launch next week. The Digital Public Library of America‘s stated goal is “… to make the holdings of America’s research libraries, archives, and museums available to all Americans–and eventually to everyone in the world–online and free of charge.” Who is joining the effort? Harvard University, University of Virginia, and New York Public Library are some of the founding members. Historic and unusual documents are some of the materials that will be accessible on the website.
