Local Art @ EPL: Socorro Mucino

June 1, 2018

We are thrilled to welcome experimental printmaker Socorro Mucino as the next featured artist in our ongoing exhibition series Local Art @ EPL. An Evanston resident who taught art in CPS high schools for 30 years, Mucino intuitively manipulates images digitally while also exploring alternative printmaking methods she learned at the Chicago Printmakers Collaborative. Featuring enigmatic puppets, mysterious archival photos, and surrealistic landscapes, her work was praised by curator Robert Kameczura for exploring “the borderline between the real and the unreal” with a touch of “soft poetry.” You can catch Mucino’s show Almost By the Lakethrough June 30 on the 2nd floor of EPL’s Main Library and meet her at an opening reception beginning at noon on Saturday, June 2. Her show is also a stop on Evanston Made’s popular Artist Studio Tour, and you can learn more about Mucino’s work by visiting her website.
