Perez Art Museum Miami opens during Art Basel Show

December 17, 2013

pamm_bay_viewA new art museum just opened in Miami with its windows overlooking the bay. Named for the real estate tycoon Jorge Perez,  the museum is focused on modern art from the 20th and 21st centuries. Perez stated in an NPR interview that he is the first Hispanic to have a major institution named in his honor. He donated $40 million dollars worth of art and funds to launch the art center amidst controversy. (One critic contends that the museum is lacking a major collection, for example.)

Art Basel is a major show which also has events in Hong Kong and Basel.
