LA Noire is a new video game coming out soon, however, some prominent authors are writing stories based on the plot of the game. “LA Noire: the Collected Stories” will be marketed in the near future as an e-book. (I find this puzzling- anyone understand why Joyce Carol Oates is connected to this project?) The game seems to have more features and realistic touches than other games, but still…

– Which is just what the 23 southern writers featured in the upcoming anthology Don’t Quit Your Day Job: Acclaimed Authors and the Day Jobs They Quit did! Like William Faulkner before them (who won a Nobel Prize 25 years after resigning from the post office), the acclaimed authors in this collection, edited by Sonny Brewer, all gave up their day jobs. You can listen to an interview on NPR with Mr. Brewer and Winston Groom here, and read John Grisham’s essay here. The book is due out in October.
