Penned@EPL Poetry Workshop: The Sonnet
This 14 line Italian poetic form was perfected by Petrarch in the 14th century, brought to England in the 16th century, was made famous by Spenser, and immortalized by Shakespeare. We will explore the mechanics of these three forms and practice composing a sonnet of our own.

Penned@EPL Poetry Workshop: On The Way Home – A Poetry Workshop On Finding Belonging
How do we know we’re home? What would help us feel like we belong to our bodies, our communities, the lands we live on? We’ll explore these questions and more through writing and visual art, and create a collaborative visual poem: a map of an imagined place in which we can all feel like we belong.

Found poems consist in extracting words or phrases from an original source: books, essays, advertisements, articles, speeches, etc., and recontextualizing them, or giving them new meaning inside a poem. We will play around with this fun art form and create our own found poems.
