You’re invited to the Community Shareback!

Last fall, nearly 200 Evanstonians helped the Evanston Public Library embark on a journey to advance its equity, diversity and inclusion efforts, meaningfully engage communities, and build community relationships through a series of listening engagements.

Now, the EPL is inviting the public to learn what we at the Library heard and how that feedback and collective dreaming will shape the Library’s future.

On Thursday, Jan. 20, the Evanston Public Library will host a virtual Community Shareback event from 6 to 8 p.m., and is encouraging residents to participate with incentives, giveaways, and an opportunity to have a voice in the Library’s next steps.

Strong & Starlike Consulting, Inc., which facilitated the listening sessions, will share insights that emerged from the fall’s 10 listening sessions and, along with Library staff, will discuss how that feedback will be used to advance the Library’s goals to better serve the Evanston community.

The Community Shareback is open to all Evanston residents, whether you participated in last fall’s listening engagements or not. In recognition of your time and contributions, and to encourage equitable participation, you will receive a $25 gift card stipend and be entered into a drawing for an iPad or several collections of books curated by our librarians, just for virtually attending.

The Evanston Public Library’s Community Shareback virtual event will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 20. The event will be held virtually on Zoom, and laptops and WiFi hotspots are available for residents who need them. Limited in-person attendance at the Main Library may be available pending COVID-19 considerations on the day of the event.

To ensure that all members of the community can participate, childcare, laptops and WiFi, ADA accommodations, and interpretation will all be available. Request accommodations at www.epl.org/shareback by Tuesday, Jan. 18.

To register, visit www.epl.org/shareback.
