In the book bins outside the downtown Evanston Public Library building (1703 Orrington Ave.), you can return items 24 hours a day. Items can also be returned to Robert Crown library any time the Community Center is open (the book drop is inside the Community Center). We are not accepting returns at North and CAMS.
To maintain the safe handling of all materials, we are quarantining returned items for 3 days. Don’t worry if items still appear on your account several days after you have returned them. You won’t be charged and the items aren’t lost. If after 2 weeks the items still appear on your account, please contact us at 847-448-8630.
Where do I return library materials?
At the Main Library, 1703 Orrington Avenue: There are drive-up/walk-up drop boxes on Church Street at the front of the library. There are also drop boxes at the information desk in the lobby.

Fleetwood-Jourdain book drop, located in the front entry to Fleetwood-Jourdain,1655 Foster St
At any library in Cooperative Computer Services (CCS) consortium: The Evanston Public Library is a member and all the libraries in the consortium share a catalog. When you return materials to one of these libraries, it will be reflected on your account as soon as that library processes their drop boxes. Chicago and Skokie Public Libraries are NOT part of the CCS consortium.
At any other public library in Illinois: The state has a van delivery system that routes materials between the ten Illinois library systems. Be aware that the further away from Evanston you return the materials, the longer it will take for us to receive them. Materials are not cleared from your account until received at EPL.

Please do not return EPL materials to libraries in other states.
